Baked Book

Date: October 1 - 31, 2024
Location: FRAGILE BOOKS online

<Overview>
As her first Fragile Exhibition in a long time, we are pleased to present “Baked Book,” a solo exhibition by Haruna Morita. Her ceramic sculptures, which are made by layering and firing Washi paper coated with mud plaster, look like “Baked Book” just taken out of the oven. The appearance of the pages, as if blown by the wind, is that of ashes of the burned paper. Please take a look at this fragile gem.

Artist's Message

In my work, I observe the materials I use with great care, and through close involvement with my own motives, I experience the intertwining of my senses and the materials I use. The objects created in this way can be seen as the prototypes of the way people make things in order to live in the world, and they are also a way to imagine the eternal time and space, and to realize something that humans have inherited from their ancestors that runs in my own veins.
