Designer Catalogue
It's a thick book like a dictionary, with 700 pages. However, it doesn't have a sturdy cover and the book itself is soft, so it can't be put on a bookshelf without a case. All the pages have been shredded up to about 4 cm from the top.
What is this book? When you turn the pages, random shapes emerge and you hear the dry sound of paper rubbing against each other. Through delicate hand gestures, the book shows readers a new development in book design.
The book is a new member catalogue for the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), an international graphic design group based in Switzerland, and includes over 200 designers and their latest works. In contrast to the experimental binding, the contents are laid out in a regularly formatted layout, beautifully bringing together the work of over 200 designers who attempt all manner of expressions.
He, who designed the catalog, has been a member of AGI since 2005. Now, 12 years after joining, he is in charge of designing the catalog for new members.
To join AGI, you must be recommended by an existing member and have a suitable track record. Founded in 1952, Allied Graphic Designers International (AGI) is "the most prestigious organization of graphic designers in the world, composed of the world's top designers, who are not bound by religion, ideology, ethnicity, or politics, and who exchange uplifting and useful ideas based on mutual friendship and respect from a neutral standpoint." Past members include Cassandre, Raymond Savignac, Bruno Munari, and other distinguished members who have built the history of graphic design, and the organization has continued its tradition to this day as an organization of cutting-edge designers of each era. Since Yusaku Kamekura and Hiroshi Ochi joined in 1955, many of Japan's now-deceased masters, such as Yoshio Hayakawa, Takashi Kono, Kiyoshi Awazu, Ikko Tanaka, and Shigeo Fukuda, have been recognized by the world for their talent and joined the organization one after another. Currently, there are 543 designers from 47 countries and regions who are members.
