Profile
Philippe Weisbecker
Born in 1942. Graduated in 1966 from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (Paris). In 1968, he moved to New York City, where he began his career. After producing numerous illustrations for American advertising and editorial work, he returned to France in 2006 and began focusing on his own artwork. In 2002, he participated in an artist-in-residence program at Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto), organized by the Institut Français du Japon, where he stayed for four months. He is currently based in Paris and continues to exhibit his work in Europe, the United States, and Japan. In Japan, he has also worked extensively in advertising and has received numerous awards both domestically and internationally, including from JAGDA, the New York Art Directors Club (NYADC), the Clio Awards, Tokyo ADC, and Cannes Lions. He also created an official poster for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. His publications include *HAND TOOLS* (888 Books, 2016) and *Philippe Weisbecker: Works in Progress* (PIE International, 2018), among others.
