One book, one color
Flowing from Ancient Rome
The blood of art is vermilion

"Inventory of Red Paints" contains 46 different red paints collected by Spanish artist Miguel Ângelo Martins over a period of 10 years. The book is also the first work published by Raum Editions, a label founded by Miguel and his partner Laura Pilar Delgado.
The book consists of 46 different paints and 46 different paintings that pay homage to each color, with images and technical specifications of the paint tubes. The reason for focusing the theme on red paint is that vermilion pigment was particularly rare and expensive in ancient Rome and was historically important.
When Miguel, who had aspired to become a painter, put down his brush and set about his next project as an out-of-the-box artist, the catalyst was his studio's overflowing supply of painting materials. He could not bear the thought of disposing of his beloved materials, so he decided to use them as materials for his artwork. He began by taking inventory of the papers, paints, and brushes that littered his studio, and then turned it into a project in itself to organize them from a new perspective so that each could be given a second life.
At first glance, it may not look like a book of objects knitted by a lover of things, only I must tell you that this is not the case at all. This book is nothing but a new way of expressing art found by a person who loves art from the marrow and craves to paint. The artist's keen eye, facing the canvas, has been transferred into a book.
One fortunate thing about a canvas is that there can be only one in the world, but a book can be reproduced. This increases the chance of owning the real thing. Miguel prints all of his work himself, risographically, and makes as many as he can. Not many, but enough to make his work available on the other side of the world.
