The subject matter used was "Finch," a short story from "Ten Nights of Dreams and Two Other Stories" published in 1986. "Finch" is a short story by Natsume Soseki that was published in the Osaka Asahi Shimbun newspaper from June 13 to 21, 1908, and was published in 1910 together with "Ten Nights of Dreams" in a collection of four stories by Shunyodo. It is a masterpiece that rivals his larger works and depicts the death of something beautiful.

The story is broken down, and each piece of text is pasted together in a way that creates as little meaning as possible. In this work, the words and images are interwoven together. It is not the plot, but the beauty of Natsume Soseki's unique "writing itself" that is unraveled by Koizumi Aya's hand and once again appears as a crystal. The beauty of this work is that you can feel the illusion that Natsume Soseki painted without reading it.
