To the landscape that resides in Atsuko Suga's words.
Like light reflecting off the fog
Weaving with paper.
I have always longed for ItalyscenePerhaps it was her words that brought this feeling. The first book I encountered by Atsuko Suga was not one of her books, but a translation.Even if it is replaced with Japanese,Faraway LandThe scene leads us. This happens often in her books. A vivid scene emerges from each book, and every word is imbued with the warmth of the person called Atsuko Suga.
We can no longer see the Italy she lived in as it was. Nevertheless, like the faint particles of the landscape blending into the mist, I search for the fresh life of Italy that resides in Atsuko Suga's words, and weave my paper like light reflecting off the mist.

Rivotorto Pieces will hold their first solo exhibition, "Passage of Paper Textile". The works are named after the two artists' ancestors whom they have admired since childhood. They feature people from all over the world, past and present, such as saints, picture book authors, and architects. Saint Francis of Assisi, Atsuko Suga, Leo Lionni and Tokujiro Kojima, Bernard of Chartres, Tintoretto, Dante, Giotto, Seiichi Shirai, Sotatsu Tawaraya, William Morris, Édouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Montaner, Michelangelo, Hermes, Diotima, Barbara Sansoni, Hergé, Hiroshi Yoshino, Rousseau, Frederick II, Simone Weil, Aldo Manuzio, Picasso, and the man from the Masdazil Cave. The messages that accompany each work, detailing encounters with each person, are also quite interesting.
