Painted by Giotto
Like a lapis lazuli chapel
Weaving a starry sky with paper.
I wonder if there is a starry sky that makes you wish for something so much.
A surface of lapis lazuli is decorated with twinkling stars.PaduaThe sky above the Scrovegni Chapel. It was considered a serious crimePerhaps the client, Enrico degli Scrovegni (?-1336), who had made his fortune through usury, was praying for redemption. Christians may have expressed their heartfelt hopes for the end of the world. As for the painter Giotto himself, he may have expressed his hopes for the Renaissance that was about to begin.
Under the traditional starry sky that has been passed down since ancient times, a scene that expresses human emotions that have been forgotten for many years unfolds. I hope that such natural observation and expression will continue to be commonplace in the future. Under the starry sky where countless people have made their wishes, I also make various wishes.
Assisi, where Giotto once blossomedAssisiI would also like to go and see Giotto's works. And after seeing Giotto's works all over Italy, I would like to look up at the starry sky in Padua once again. GiottoI can't imitate the blue of the moon, but as I look up at the starry sky woven from paper, I make a wish again.

Rivotorto Pieces will hold their first solo exhibition, "Passage of Paper Textile". The works are named after the two artists' ancestors whom they have admired since childhood. They feature people from all over the world, past and present, such as saints, picture book authors, and architects. Saint Francis of Assisi, Atsuko Suga, Leo Lionni and Tokujiro Kojima, Bernard of Chartres, Tintoretto, Dante, Giotto, Seiichi Shirai, Sotatsu Tawaraya, William Morris, Édouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Montaner, Michelangelo, Hermes, Diotima, Barbara Sansoni, Hergé, Hiroshi Yoshino, Rousseau, Frederick II, Simone Weil, Aldo Manuzio, Picasso, and the man from the Masdazil Cave. The messages that accompany each work, detailing encounters with each person, are also quite interesting.
