Two short stories by Kafka
A crystal with the letters swapped.
The short story "Kafka's Fables" (Iwanami Bunko/translated by Ikeuchi Ki)"The Messenger" and "A Little Fable"" was cut up into two pages (one sheet of paper) and then randomly glued together again without losing a single character. This strange piece perfectly captures the unique feature of a book, which is that there is text on both sides of the paper. It is sandwiched between thick acrylic panels so that it can be viewed from both sides.
Each is complete on its own.The material is two pages with "The Messenger" and "A Small Fable" printed on both sides. He said this was possible because it is a book by Kafka, who left behind many short stories.
In the process of deconstructing the story and pasting together each piece of text in a way that creates as little meaning as possible, the text of the works on the front and back of the piece are interwoven. Just like the presence of the wall explained in the work "The Next Room: Library," "The Messenger" and "A Little Fable," which were originally on the front and back of the piece and unrelated in content, are united with "The Messenger and a Little Fable" in this work, and are crystallized in the acrylic as a space of text that even the artist Kafka has no idea about.
The specially made storage box with the artwork printed on it also has a beautiful appearance.
