Silent Book

Fragile Exhibition in June 2023 is pleased to present "SILENT BOOK," a solo exhibition by Ryuta Iida. This work, which he began working on in 2019, the year of the Corona Disaster, shows a book that has passed through the hands of many people and is now crumpled. For Ryuta Iida, who sculpts from paper and used books, sculpting means sealing them, and in the past he has separated "reading" from books and sculpted a different body language, keeping the story inside. In this latest work, "SILENT BOOK," a "pedestal" appears for the first time in this act of sealing, and the book, which is said to be extinct soon, is crystallized like a fossil.
