The ultimate still life photo book
A second form was born.
This far-reaching still life photo book, born from the encounter between Aoki Kenji, who explores the non-objective through photography, and Yamaguchi Nobuhiro, who has translated Japanese beauty into design, is now being given a new second form.
The first edition, released last September, was a folding folder that resembled koji, which gently encased the six unbound volumes, but the second edition has been bound together with a newly written preface and other elements, leaving the photos intact, to reveal a vertical spine. It is an unprecedented transformation, as if an exoskeleton mayfly had transformed into a swan with a backbone as soon as it had overwintered.

Author Profile
Kenji Aoki
Born in Tokyo in 1968. A photographer specializing in still life from a geometric perspective. During his student days, he learned drawing from his uncle, Shigesuke Yoshitake, a craft designer, and encountered the Bauhaus design philosophy while studying at Kuwasawa Design School. He was particularly influenced by Kazimir Malevich's "NON OBJECTIVE WORLD," an artistic philosophy that is also related to Japanese Zen. Since then, he has used photography to explore "non-objective" in tangible things. He moved to the United States in 2010 and has worked on many covers for The New York Times Magazine and TIME, attracting worldwide attention. In 2021, his first photo book, "SPACE," was published by Germany's Kohler. He returned to Japan in 2022.
