A delicate and light book
A launching bookmaker.

She finds good papers from all over the country and keeps them carefully, and when the time comes, she stacks, pastes, folds, and binds them together to create custom-made boxes, frames, and paper objects. Tsuzuki Akie's work is particularly focused on bookbinding, and she creates books that are as fluffy as Japanese sweets, in a field that is beyond the imagination of Relieur authors and book designers. She only produces a very small number of special books, one by one. Although they are special edition books, they do not use "glue" in the thread binding process, so unlike the heavy and gorgeous Western-style bookbinding, they have the appearance of a well-ventilated Japanese house assembled with wood without nails. A never-ending stream of people across genres have been fascinated by Tsuzuki Akie's work, including graphic designer Nobuhiro Yamaguchi, metalwork artist Tomomi Nakamura, and Korean photographer Koo Bon Chang.

都筑晶絵
1979年生まれ。2001年にフランスで手製本と出会う。多摩美術大学卒業後、ドイツ人のブックアーティストであるヴェロニカ・シェパス (Veronika Schäpers) の制作の手伝いをしながら、より簡素でモダンな製本を知り、内容から考える本づくりを始める。2007年1月からスイスの製本専門学校Centro del bel Libro, Asconaで再び製本を学び、2008年3月から東京で製本教室を始め、展覧会のための作品集や特装本のオーダーを受ける傍ら、ヒロイヨミ社山元伸子さんと ananas press として作品をづくりを始める。2011年より名古屋にアトリエを構え、各地でワークショップを行う。

born in 1979.studied bookbinding in France from 2001-2002. after graduating from Tama art university in Tokyo, worked with German bookartist Veronika Schäpers and started designing and binding books. in 2007, undertook ten months study at
Centro del bel Libro, Ascona, in Switzerland. giving bookbinding workshop in Tokyo since 2008. and making books as ananas press with Nobuko Yamamoto. in 2011, start working in Nagoya.
