The resemblance of a Book

This month's Fragile Exhibition, titled “The resemblance of a Book” presents a three-dimensional work of “boxes” by artist Aya Coizumi from the perspective of books. Boxes” and ‘books,’ which are usually closed and opened when they are used, both share similarities such as ‘front and back,’ ‘open and closed,’ and ”inside and outside. Aya Coizumi has further deepened this concept by sculpting the time-space inside a book as a stage set made of boxes in various ways. Her unique perspective is mechanical, architectural, and reading-oriented. Just as the church is a three-dimensional sculpture of the Bible, Aya Coizumi's world of boxes is a book from beyond.
